Thabazimbi – Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM) hosted a wide range of activities in celebration of Mandela Month 2019.

The municipality’s activities commenced on 15 July at Rooiberg by hosting an environmental awareness education and clean-up campaign.

Mayor John Fischer said: “We join South Africans across our country in dedicating at least 67 minutes of our time to engage in major cleaning exercises of our cities, towns, villages, and schools to make South Africa better.”

The clean-up campaign is also designed to encourage cooperation and working together to build our country. It is meant to enhance nation building and cohesion, while promoting environmental awareness and pride in our surroundings – no matter how humble they may be.

TLM activities included feeding the elderly with soup and giving them blankets at Skierlik, distribution of school shoes and sanitary towels to primary schools, clean-up campaigns at Northam and Regorogile, as well as the renovation of Regorogile community halls.

“Let us make every day a Mandela Day. Let’s do good deeds without wanting something in return, let’s work together and move South Africa forward,” added mayor Fischer.

TLM would like to thank all participants and contributors during the Mandela month activities.
