Thieving syndicate busted

Thabazimbi/ Brits – SAPS received information about wanted suspects in the area around Oukasie near Brits on Wednesday 13 March.

Members of an intelligence driven operation searched various homes, looking for the suspects, without success. 

On their way out of Oukasie, the police spotted the suspects in a vehicle. 

A vehicle chase ensued, and the suspects were eventually cornered. One of the suspects managed to flee on foot, but  four suspects were arrested.

During a search of the vehicle, the police found a bag containing an undisclosed amount of money, a 38-special revolver loaded with five rounds, gloves and clothes that the suspects were wearing while committing business robberies. One of the suspects was also in the possession of  an additional nine live rounds of ammunition. 

The suspects are linked to robberies at Thabazimbi Echo Mountain Inn, the Thabazimbi Post Office and Northam Choppies. 

Police are investigating eight additional cases, where the suspects might be involved.
