Taxi war in Northam

Northam – A violent taxi feud ended in a shootout in the early morning hours of Monday 18 March at the Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) houses in Northam.

No fatalities have been reported but the war between taxi drivers left commuters stranded as they were unable to make use of the taxis to get to and from work. 

“This is a big problem for us, because we need to get to work but we are scared to get into the taxis because we don’t know when another gun fight will break out.

We have to choose between risking our lives or our jobs,” a daily commuter told Platinum Busvelder.
