Change begins with you  AN OUTCRY TO THE NORTHAM COMMUNITY

Northam – Platinum Bushvelder took to the streets of Northam to find out what community members are doing to change Northam for the better. Let’s hear what they had to say: 

 

• “As a business owner, I am very strict on neatness. I frequently see people in the community dump their refuse across my business property… and believe me, I do not stand back. I also cut the grass around my business. I am proud of my business. We all need to take pride in Northam and our environment,” said owner of Northam Auto Electrical & Mechanical Jacques Stevens.

 

• “Educate your neighbours. Our community reflects a portrait of who we are as human beings. We must come together as a community. Alone, one person can’t do it! Change must begin with you. Educate your children at home to be proud of where they live and who they are,” said Patricia Motloi.

 

• Liezl Janse van Rensburg said: “I bought my home in Northam as an investment, and I am sure so did everyone else... But if we don’t keep our own town clean, how can my investment grow? Vacant stands being used as dump sites in residential areas is a health and safety risk! Owners of vacant stands must protect their properties value by fencing it.”

 

• “We want outsiders to invest in Northam to ultimately create more jobs. If everyone does their part, we will be a stronger and richer community,” said chairperson of Northam Rate Payers Association, David Gouveia.
