SIYANDA INVESTING IN THE COMMUNITY

Northam – Thriving communities are at the heart of Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine’s business. They dedicate themselves to investing in the people who live in their host communities.
Working hand in hand with various stakeholders and government, they continuously contribute to the needs of their communities.
INTERNATIONAL NELSON MANDELA DAY
On International Nelson Mandela Day on 18 July, SBPM handed out generous donations throughout the community. For their 67 minutes they went above and beyond and also involved other companies to donate towards their various projects.
The various projects that SBPM was involved in included LESEDI EDU-CARE centre, who works with disadvantaged children of various ages, received 40 blankets and food parcels.
Dikweipe Day Care Centre, who caters for homeless elderly and disabled children, also received 40 blankets and food parcels.
Kesarona Primary School received sanitary towels and paint. Ofentse Primary School received school shoes, uniforms and paint as well as a jungle gym for the learners. The teams also participated in a Northam cleaning campaign.

WINTER SCHOOL
Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine with Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela Royal Authority and the Department of Education hosted the 2019 winter school camp at Rustenburg Kloof with 200 learners from 30 June to 6 July.
The Department of Basic Education has identified the following schools to attend the winter camp: • Manamakgotha High School • Kgamanyane High School • Kgalatlowe Secondary School • Tshaile Secondary School • Makuka Secondary School • Sedibelo Secondary School • Nkobong Secondary School • Gaopotlake Secondary School • and Lerome Secondary School.
Gosiame Rabalago, who spoke on behalf of learners said: “We would like to give the utmost gratitude to SBPM. We would like to acknowledge and thank our wonderful motivators, teachers, coordinators and my fellow learners for their dedication. We hope that we can make them proud and give them high-grade results.”
