Tragic end to an abusive relationship

Brits – A 28-year old man was arrested for allegedly murdering his girlfriend.  

Tebogo Setlhare, who appeared before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 27 November, stands accused of kidnapping, robbery, murder, possession of suspected stolen property and defeating the ends of justice. Tebogo allegedly killed his girlfriend, Kgaugelo Tshawane, whose burnt remains were discovered in her Mini Cooper.

On the evening of Saturday 30 November while at a lodge in Brits, the two were seen engaged in a heated argument. Two days later, Kgaugelo’s mother – who was struggling to get hold of her daughter – went to the Garankuwa Police Station to open a missing person case. 

While at the police station, she was informed that Kgaugelo’s body and vehicle were found at Mmakau near Brits. 

At this stage, police suspect that Tebogo kidnapped, robbed and burned Kgaugelo.
Tebogo was found with Kgaugelo’s bank card.
