Firearm amnesty 2019-2020

Thabazimbi – Thabazimbi SAPS station commissioner lieutenant colonel Philemon Bodibe is calling on residents to take note of the following:

Persons that failed to renew their firearm licenses, only have from 1 December 2019 to 31 May 2020 to re-apply for licenses. 

The procedure is as follows:
The firearm must be handed in at your local designated amnesty official.
The applicant must indicate if he/she wants to re-apply for the firearm license.
The firearm will be taken for an integrated ballistic identification system (IBIS) test by the designated firearm official along with the captured application (SAP 271).

When the procedure is completed by Central Firearm Registry and the license is approved, the firearm and license card will be available at the designated firearm official for collection. Make sure that your competency card, training certificates and supplementary documents are attached when applying.
