NRPA worried by municipality’s challenges

Thabazimbi – The sewage in Northam has been a thorn in the side of community members. 

After a request from the Northam Rate Payers Association (NRPA), the Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM) sent a health inspector, environmental inspector and the roads and stormwater manager to Northam on Friday 31 January to report on the problems facing Northam.

They were also accompanied by a human rights representative.

Their trip included visiting the Northam sewage plant as well as speaking to business owners who are severely affected by the sewage problem. 

They also urged hawkers not to litter by highlighting the environmental dangers of such practices for Northam. 

The NRPA is pushing the TLM to release the report so that they can start with the next step to improve Northam. The TLM has not yet released the report.
