Working towards a cleaner Northam

Northam – Thabazimbi Resident Association (TRA) took to the streets of Northam on Saturday 15 February during a clean-up campaign.

They focused on cleaning up the areas around the taxi rank as well as businesses and urged business owners and other community members to always ensure their environment is kept clean. 
It was a busy day for the TRA members. They filled numerous black waste collection bags with rubbish. 

They then took the bags of rubbish, old tyres and other unwanted material to a collection point in Botha Street. 

In an interview with Platinum Bushvelder, TRA chairperson Richard Kotsedi said: “We want to do this every month. We want our town to be clean, we cannot expect the Thabazimbi Local Municipality to do everything, we must all work together. We all have to do our part and take pride in our town”.
TRA plans to clean up the streets of Thabazimbi during March.  

“We want to educate and bring the community together with this heartfelt effort. We are tired of the hawkers in town too, they do just as they want and do not care about the environment,” said TRA spokesperson Donald Sekgobela.
