Eskom’s swift response lauded 

Northam – A big truck reversed into one of the main electricity poles in Northam extension 6 on the morning of Friday 13 March.

A huge explosion followed and most of the suburb was left without electricity, and that shortly after they had to undergo load shedding. 

A call was made to Eskom’s call centre and the power utility reacted swiftly.

Personnel dispatched to the scene and worked until 02:00 on Saturday morning to secure the wires. They resumed their work at around 11:00 after receiving equipment to repair the pole and other wires. 

The Eskom team worked right through until 17:00 on Saturday to ensure that the people had electricity.

On Sunday 15 March yet another power outage occurred. The Eskom team responded in a flash. A new transformer, which was installed the following day, restored electricity to the affected areas.  

The community is very grateful to every member of the Eskom team for their commitment and effort!
