Will he confess to poisoning his sons?   

Brits - The plea of a man accused of murdering his two sons by allegedly poisoning them will come under the spotlight when his trial at the Magistrates’ Court eventually begins. The murder accused, Dannyboy Fitsos Khumalo, will appear before the court on Wednesday 10 June for his bail hearing.

Condemning the incident, North West provincial commissioner lieutenant general Sello Kwena conveyed his condolences to the family.

Police spokesperson brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said 38-year old Khumalo confessed to killing his two sons during a meeting with a magistrate on Tuesday 19 May, moments before he made his first court appearance.

He was remanded in custody when he appeared again in court on 2 June. Although the trial is yet to get underway, the question on everyone's mind is: Will Khumalo plead guilty under oath, when he eventually takes to the witness stand?

Mogwabone explained that although Khumalo confessed to a magistrate, it is his plea in court that will influence how his trial will proceed.  “He confessed but not in court,” Mokgwabone told Platinum Weekly.

Khumalo was arrested on 18 May following the death of his sons, aged 11 and 12 years. Initially, the suspect allegedly informed the police that the boys had died from drinking rat poison. This was after their bodies were discovered at Valkop Plot in Assen, near Brits.

Khumalo was arrested and charged with two counts of murder after police investigations suggested that he poisoned his two children.
