OFFICER KNOCKED DOWN BY RECKLESS DRIVER

Brits – The North West provincial member of executive council (MEC) for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari, lauded the brave traffic cop who was knocked down on duty in Oukasie, Brits on Monday 27 July.

Provincial inspector Tshepang Masike pulled off a vehicle which motion suggested that the driver was about to stop. But as the 22-year-old female officer approached the vehicle, the driver suddenly sped off and in the process bumped the traffic officer pushing her to the side walkway.
The officer was immediately rushed to Mediclinic Brits were medical observation and X-rays were conducted on her. She was fortunate to be discharged after sustaining only minor injuries. She returned to work on 31 July.

MEC Sello Lehari appealed to motorists to be respectful towards traffic officers as well as to cooperate with law enforcement officers in general. A case of reckless and negligent driving was opened and is being investigated by the Brits police station.
