Fire restriction for Thabazimbi

Thabazimbi – The Thabazimbi Fire Protection Association (TFPA) has banned open fires and burning activities within all areas that fall under the jurisdiction of the local municipality.

The restriction, which came into effect on Wednesday 1 July, will only be lifted when the municipal area records 25mm of rainfall within a period of 24 hours.

The prohibition means that anyone who deliberately starts a fire can be charged with malicious damage of property, which is a criminal offence. Open fires may lead to uncontrolled bush fires that can cause damage to property and may also cause serious harm or even death.
