SAPS bids farewell to crime-fighting legends

Thabazimbi – Colleagues and family came together at Africa Lodges in Thabazimbi on Thursday 5 November to bid a fond farewell to retiring captain Puleng Abel Thapela and detective warrant oficer Gert Myburgh.

Both Thapela and Myburg are well-respected and admired law-enforcers. Captain Puleng Abel Thapela has been with the force for 29 years. He joined the police service on 11 February 1991, retiring on 31 October 2020. Detective warrant officer Gert Myburgh served in the police for 38 years. He joined the force on 12 January 1982 and also retired on 31 October 2020.

They will both be remembered for their dedication and wisdom. We wish them all the best for the new phase of their lives.
