Assisting the less fortunate  

Regorogile – To meet the needs of less fortunate community members, Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM) met with residents of Regorogile extension 2 on Monday 23 November to register people on the municipality’s incentives scheme and indigent registration campaign for the 2020/ 2021 year. 

By law, municipalities are required to have an indigent policy to ensure that persons and households classified as indigent, within their jurisdiction have access to basic municipal services. The Census Community Survey report of 2016 showed that 12,431 indigent households resided in the TLM. The number of poor and needy households may have increased due to the job losses and salary adjustments caused by COVID-19 regulations.
