SA – Aim for a debt-free holiday by avoiding the temptation to overspend on glamorous gifts, travelling, and expensive parties. Avoid financial woes in January 2021, by living and spending frugally and following these tips: 

• Be realistic about your finances and work out a budget to guide spending and what gifts to buy.
• Save at the end of each month for an annual vacation, gifts, or parties.
• Make a shopping list and avoid tempting specials.
• Avoid using a credit card and buy only with your cash in hand. 
• Purchase gifts and other festive items when they are on sale throughout the year.
• Avoid last-minute gift shopping and the pressure of purchasing an expensive but necessary gift.
• Limit your gift list as much as possible.
• Browse for travel deals in the months leading up to Christmas and New Year.
