Thabazimbi smart-meter project

Thabazimbi – Notice is hereby given of the next implementation step in the smart-meter project that will affect businesses in Thabazimbi.

Starting 8 August ending 15 August 2017, the ‘brain’ of the smart meters, called DCU’s, will be installed. A DCU (data concentrator unit) is installed in a mini-sub or transformer. That means that the mini-sub or transformer supplying your business of electricity will be switched off for 30-45 minutes to allow for the installation.

This is NOT the smart-meter installation step yet, only the installation of the ‘brain’ that will eventually be connected to the smart-meters.

Please note that the Thabazimbi Business Chamber is part of the project team and is working closely with all parties involved to minimize the downtime/impact on businesses.
