Effective and safe refuse disposal 

Northam – The proper management of waste at the Northam landfill site is an important part of achieving the environmental safety and cleanliness objectives of the Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM).

The municipality is aware that the improper disposal of refuse could have serious health implications to residents as it would put them at risk of contracting diseases. It is against this background that personnel from the municipality, with the assistance of Siyanda-Bakgatla Platinum Mine, began clearing the refuse and waste at the landfill site on Monday 15 March. The clean-up activities are still ongoing, and the municipality has expressed their gratitude to the mine for assisting them to keep the area clean and safe.
