South Africa is officially recording its ‘third wave’ of the global pandemic – and Thabazimbi is in the spotlight. It remains everyone’s responsibility to act responsibly by adhering to all preventative protocols.
Laerskool Thabazimbi had to be temporarily shut down. In last week’s issue, we reported that 258 learners were not attending school because they either tested positive for Covid-19 or were adhering the Covid-19 isolation related incidents… and thus the school governing body decided to close the doors for seven days. The pandemic also significantly affected other institutions and schools, like the police station and Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer.

Pharmacist at Medhof Pharmacy in Thabazimbi Driansu van der Nest expressed her concern at the high number of people who have been testing positive as temperatures continue dropping and winter sets in.
“The biggest mistake people make is touching their face. Please refrain from doing this,” she urged the community, during an interview with Platinum Bushvelder.
She also highlighted the importance of wearing a cloth mask and regularly sanitising your hands.
“Treat all flu like symptoms as COVID and make sure that you get tested. A lot of people are testing positive so please be careful,” she advised.
Elderly people, who are the most vulnerable to COVID-19, need special care and attention during winter. Let’s all unite and do all we can to keep ourselves and elderly members of our families and communities warm. Remember your health is your wealth. Together, we can flatten the COVID-19 curve.
