Three escapees re-arrested, 1 still on the run

Limpopo – Three criminals have each been sentenced to 22 years behind bars after the Mokopane Regional Court found them guilty of robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of illegal firearms and ammunition as well as contravening the Immigration Act.  

“The state successfully proved that John Fine, Clifford Mutonhori and Figos Madisha terrorised and robbed motorists after ambushing them along the N1,” police spokesperson brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said.

“The crimes were committed from 2019 in Bela-Bela, Modimolle and Mokopane.”

The trio, who escaped from a police vehicle in Polokwane on Wednesday 21 July, were re-arrested on 24 July.

Dennis Hove, the fourth escapee, is still on the run and police will continue with a manhunt until he is apprehended.  

“All four are still to face charges of escaping from lawful custody, robbery of a firearm, two counts of truck hijacking and attempted murder,” Mojapelo added.
