Lesego is making strides

Northam – Following one’s dreams often means making difficult but necessary sacrifices and finding the motivation to achieve success while facing seemingly insurmountable challenges. 

Lesego Moime, an occupational health nursing practitioner (OHNP) based in Northam did exactly that, and today she is reaping the fruits of her hard work, determination, courage and her faith in her abilities. 

Her company, Lesego’s Health Services, has made a positive difference in the community by making medical services more accessible to people who may not be able to access expensive services offered at private institutions. “I work very hard and love my job. I reach out to people in different areas with my mobile unit,” Moime explained.

Born and raised in the Disake village close to Swartklip, Moime was determined to make it in life by studying hard at primary and secondary school. “She obtained a Bachelor of Nursing Science at North West University and went on to study primary health care at the University of Johannesburg. She then went to Tshwane University of Technology, studying Occupational Health Care. 

Now a successful and respected nurse within her own community, Moime encourages other women to persevere. 

“The drive to achieve more and to uplift others is what motivated me. I want to urge women to work hard and to strive to be independent in everything they do. 

I hope my achievements motivate others to follow their dreams and to believe in themselves.”
She describes Dr. Dan Moime – her husband – as a pillar of strength who has stood by her through the difficult times of setting up Lesego’s Health Services. 

“My husband supports, advises and helps me with a number of aspects related to Lesego’s Health Services. I thank God for the success I have enjoyed. It is through His mercy and grace,” Moime said. 

South Africa will commemorate National Women’s Day on Monday 9 August and Moime hopes her experiences will inspire other women. She is a courageous woman with unwavering faith whose success proves that women are more than capable of excelling in whatever they choose to focus on.
