A cleaner environment = a better future

Northam – Saturday 7 August was a very busy day for Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine environmental officer Ester Moeng and the Northam extension 6 residents who took part in a successful clean-up initiative. 

Moeng took a leading role by securing the services of a front-end loader and tipper, which ensured an effective and thorough job.

“I take the environment very seriously and it is important to do our part. We all want to live in a healthy and clean environment, the community have to stand together,” she said.

The efforts of the team, who cleaned up along a stretch of the Swartklip Road, resulted in a noticeable, positive difference. Another group of community members focused on sweeping other streets in the area as well as clearing unwanted material that had gathered near vacant stands. 

Northan resident Johan Vosloo said to Platinum Busvelder: “Change starts with you as a community member. We all want people to invest in Northam, so we have to stand together and make sure it is clean.”
