The sh.t is hitting the fan Sies man! 

Northam – The manholes along the R510 started overflowing, indicating a blockage in the system – with sewage flowing into the yards of several Northam residents.

This has been an ongoing problem and on Monday 13 September the fed-up residents affected by the stench could not stand it any longer. 

They rolled up their sleeves and used buckets to empty the manholes themselves.

“The municipality has failed us; we have reported the issue to our councillor, but nothing is being done. The water is not flowing because there is no pump. This is disgusting and a serious health risk,” a community member said. 

This problem will not resolve itself and it is not the residents’ responsibility, something must be done to prevent this from happening again.
