Two days of sewer diving

Northam – The blocked sewage system has become a headache for the Northam community.

Northam extension 6, Helen Park, Northam Block 3, 5 and 7 were most affected, but this particular challenge has regularly “spilled over” to other areas.


To relieve this, Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM) started to unblock the Northam sewer system on Tuesday 12 October. 


What a daunting task! Items like spoons and empty bottles were found inside the sewers and residents are urged not to throw any foreign objects in the sewer system because it leads to rampant spillage and blockages.

TLM spend two days inside the drains to unblock the sewer system.
The number of foreign objects in the sewer system is cause for concern.
