Fighting 2 fires in 1 evening

Thabazimbi – Thaba Fire and Rescue once again saved the day when they successfully brought two fires under control on Saturday 23 September. 

They battled with their first fire for the day which started at Koedoeskop at around 17:00 until 9 pm the evening.

This fire was most likely caused by lightning. On their way back home, they were alerted to another fire which started next to Leakwood Lodge located almost 30km from Thabazimbi on the R510. They struggled with this fire until midnight.

“We would like to urge the community to please report any fires that you see immediately so it can be extinguished before it has spread too wide.

The rainy season is here and with it comes thunderstorms and lighting, so ensuring that these fires are brought under control early-on can prevent a lot of damage,” said Thaba Fire and Rescue’s Pierre Loots.
