Fire caused by lightning…

Thabazimbi – Firefighters and local farmers battled for four hours on Thursday 4 November to extinguish a fire that started near Sentrum.

Personnel from Thabazimbi Fire and Rescue suspect that lightning flashes that were seen in the area could have caused the blaze. No injuries were reported. 

Pierre Loots from Thabazimbi Fire and Rescue urged community members to be aware of the potential dangers that are brought about by the rainy season.

“Lightning is common during the rainy season, and we must all be cautious.”
