Bakkie stolen, recovered same day

Thabazimbi – Police are investigating a case in which a Toyota Land Cruiser bakkie was stolen from a farm outside Thabazimbi before it was recovered about 5 hours later in the Koedoeskop area.  

The owner of the bakkie said he was not at the farm when an unknown number of suspects entered his property.

The foreman of the farm woke up at around 4am and discovered that both gates of the farm were broken and that the bakkie was missing. 

Said Tracker consultant Alida Goodayle: “The vehicle was stolen at around 2am. Tracker SA as well as police officers from Makwena and Matlabas were involved in the search for the vehicle, which was eventually discovered at around 7:15am”. 

Police are investigating the incident and no arrests have been made yet. 

Community members have been urged to safeguard their vehicles ahead of the festive season, which usually results in a surge of car theft incidents. “If you can, have a tracker installed in your vehicle,” Goodayle urged.
