Cemetery infrastructure vandalised 

Northam – The toilet facilities at the Northam Cemetery were vandalised on Sunday 14 November. Copper was stolen, and toilet basins, sinks and other infrastructure were damaged.

The Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM) and Police are investigating the case. “Cemeteries are an important part of our heritage where loved ones are laid to rest.

We suspect the thieves gained access to the ablution facility through one of the windows – which have no burglar proofing. There was no security at the cemetery. This is the first time something like this happened in our area,” said TLM spokesperson Joshua Motsomane.
