Sharing ideas to make life easier

Northam – South African Police Service (SAPS) and non-profit organisations like Ipopeng Disability Care Centre, Khulisa Social Solutions, LoveLife and other local non-governmental organisation came together on Wednesday 7 December 2022 to commemorate International Day of Disabled Persons.

This day is dedicated to promoting the rights and wellbeing of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and is observed annually on 3 December.

Northam Police spokesperson sergeant Fortune Madisa, Ipopeng Disability Care Centre’s Tonic Mataboge, community policing forum (CPF) members, and SAPS members gave people who live with disabilities the opportunity to interact with the police and share their experiences.

It also created a platform for disabled people to share their ideas on how they could be better accommodated. By working together, they hope to find meaningful measures that will ensure that services are inclusive and accessible for everyone.
