Burnt remains found in Regorogile

Thabazimbi – Information has been circulating regarding the remains of a burnt body that was discovered in Regorogile extension 3 on Friday 21 April 2023. 

The information indicates that the remains are that of a child who was burnt after his/her death. 
However, according to information received from warrant officer Jaco Havenga, A young man from the Regorogile community was busy collecting firewood on a nearby mountain when he discovered the remains.

Police responded to the scene, and it is alleged that the remains were burnt because of a veld fire that occurred approximately three weeks prior to the discovery. At this point, specific details surrounding the identity of the body remain unclear. An inquest docket has been opened and the case is under investigation.
