Caution around rivers and dams

Limpopo – The Police Search and Rescue team in Seshogo, outside Polokwane, were called out to Blood River Village, after an incident of drowning was reported on Sunday, 4 February.

It is alleged that a middle-aged man drowned while baptizing fellow church members in a local river. The police reacted swiftly, and a search operation ensued until the body of the deceased had been located and removed from the river.

Says lieutenant colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, police spokesperson: “We urge members of the community to be careful when using rivers or dams, whether for swimming, bathing or religious ceremonies.”
