Accident on Ellisras road: Car slammed into back of truck

Thabazimbi - An accident occurred on the Ellisras road (R510) last Thursday afternoon, 9 November,  at around 14:00, just before the Alma turnoff in the direction of Ellisras. The accident, involving a car and a truck, led to the hospitalisation of the driver of the vehicle and his three children.

According to information received from Victor Bennett of Thaba Fire and Rescue, the accident is believed to have been caused when the truck abruptly applied its brakes, leading to the car crashing into its rear. The man driving the car sustained serious injuries and was promptly transported, along with the children, to Thabazimbi’s public hospital by the provincial ambulance service. While the children did not suffer visible injuries, they were taken to the hospital for precautionary observation.\

As the holiday season approaches, road safety campaigns will once again draw attention to the carnage on our roads and provide advice on how to prevent it. Many of these accidents could have been avoided.
