Recurring power outages due to cable theft

Thabazimbi - On Sunday, 3 December 2023, at approximately 14:48, the Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM) reported a power outage in Regorogile Extension 2, Ipelegeng, Transnet Villa Solatine, Heuwelkruin, Oudekraal, and Thabazimbi Extensions 18, 31, 35, and 37. The outage was due to cable theft near the Thaba Village substation. By 15:49, TLM announced that the cable, which had incurred damage from the theft, had been repaired, and that power would be restored by 17:00.
Two days later, an additional case of cable theft was reported along Warmbad Weg Road towards the MBT garage, once again affecting Bosveld Park, Regorogile Extension 2, Ipelegeng, Heuwelkruin, Oudekraal, and Thabazimbi Extensions 18, 31, 35, and 37.

When witnessing cable theft, community members are urged to contact Thabazimbi SAPS on 014 777 3500 and Northam SAPS on 014 784 4106.
