Hit-and-run incident leaves man injured

Thabazimbi – In a shocking incident on Monday, 12 February 2024, at around 23:50 near the local show grounds, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident. The victim, who was walking alongside the road, was hit by a bakkie, according to reports from the scene.

In a distressing turn of events, the driver of the bakkie reportedly exited the vehicle not to offer assistance, but to steal the injured man’s cellphone before fleeing the scene. 

Fortunately, a Good Samaritan returning from work witnessed the aftermath and immediately stopped to help. Observing the victim’s severe injuries, he promptly called emergency services, ensuring the man received the necessary medical attention. 

Authorities are currently investigating the hit-and-run. They urge anyone with information to come forward and assist in identifying the driver.
