LIFEBLOOD OF THE COMMUNITY Thabazimbi Blood Drive Exceeds Expectations!

Thabazimbi – The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) blood drive held in Thabazimbi on Wednesday 5 February 2025, was a resounding success, surpassing all expectations. The event aimed to collect 37 units of blood, but thanks to the generosity of the community, SANBS left with an outstanding 52 units.

Tshiamo Malao, SANBS donor care officer, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who participated, highlighting that 57 people attended the drive. While five individuals were unable to donate due to various reasons, the overall turnout was a welcome surprise.

“We truly appreciate each and every donor. Without their selfless act, countless lives would be at risk. Every unit of blood collected brings hope and healing to those in need,” Malao said.

For regular donor Monica Gildenhuys, the decision to continue donating blood remains a deeply meaningful one. “I donate blood first and foremost because it allows me to help save or change someone’s life. Regular donations also have added benefits, such as improving blood circulation and balancing iron levels in the body. Each time you donate, your blood pressure and iron levels are checked, making it a great way to monitor your health. Encouraging friends and family to donate with you can make an even bigger impact,” she shared.
