Safety is a growing concern for many residents. While some areas remain peaceful,
others face rising crime, poor lighting, and security issues. Do you feel secure walking outside after dark, or do you avoid certain places?
No, I don’t feel safe. In South Africa, safety on the streets is a concern not just at night, but even during the day. The risk of crime is always present, making it difficult to feel secure at any time. Hanlie Harington, ThabazimbiYes, I feel safe in my neighbourhood at night despite crime concerns in Thabazimbi. Living near Marakele National Park offers a quieter, low-crime environment, unlike larger cities. The close-knit community looks out for each other, and visible police and night patrols enhance security. While wildlife encounters are a consideration, they differ from urban crime risks.
