Cllr Estie launches road repair drive

Thabazimbi – Following recent heavy rains and growing frustration among residents, Democratic Alliance (DA) Ward 2 councillor Estie Fourie has stepped in with a hands-on approach to Thabazimbi’s deteriorating roads.

A long-standing issue, road maintenance in Thabazimbi Local Municipality (TLM) has become a symbol of broader infrastructure concerns. Ageing roads, deepening potholes, and slow response times have left residents, businesses, and stakeholders deeply frustrated.

Councillor Fourie has now launched a four-week oversight project focused on the maintenance of roads. “I want to monitor and push for progress — these roads are in a chaotic state,” she said. “We need to understand what’s being done, what can be done, and how to move forward. This is a first step.”

The project will involve direct oversight of repair work, identifying problem areas, and engaging with residents on road concerns. Residents are encouraged to report hazardous areas to her office for attention.
