Limpopo Farm Frozen Amid R66 Million Lotto Scandal

Limpopo – The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has secured a preservation order to freeze a farm in Louis Trichardt linked to the misappropriation of National Lotteries Commission (NLC) funds.

Issued on 10 June 2025, the order targets Portion 15 of the Farm Zandrivierspoort – allegedly bought using money meant for old age homes. The SIU uncovered a sophisticated scheme in which three non-profit organisations (NPOs) — Matieni Community Centre, Lethabong Old Age Home, and WAR RNA — were hijacked and used to submit falsified grant applications. Over R66 million was channelled away from intended beneficiaries.

Funds were diverted to the Mbidzo Development Programme, linked to Collin Tshisimba. Millions were then used to buy the Limpopo farm, registered under Tshisimba’s partner, Ms. Promise Kharivhe.

This move is part of ongoing efforts to recover public funds lost to corruption and fraud. The SIU has also referred evidence of criminal conduct to the NPA.
