Thabazimbi youth stand tall against substance abuse

Thabazimbi – On 26 and 27 June 2025, the Thabazimbi community rallied behind its youth in an inspiring two-day event that combined sport, dialogue, and creativity to mark Youth Month and the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Organised by Thabazimbi Tlhokomelang Setshaba SUDI, in partnership with Ngata Ntsi Football Club and supported by various local departments and organisations including SIOC Community Development Trust, the event aimed to steer young people away from the streets by introducing them to the power of sports and positive choices.

Day 1 featured a youth dialogue addressing substance abuse, soccer and netball matches, and dazzling performances from local dance groups. Day 2 brought the finals, poetry, more dance, and a high-energy aerobics session that got everyone moving. Prizes and certificates of participation were handed out by SUDI centre manager and the treasurer of the board.
