Crocodile River Bridge upgrade complete

Thabazimbi – After months of dangerous detours and community frustration, the R510 Crocodile River Bridge has officially reopened — stronger and safer than before.

Heavy rainfall and severe flooding over the past year wreaked havoc across Thabazimbi, damaging infrastructure and leaving the R510 bridge unstable. Thanks to an intensive eight-month construction effort, the bridge has now been successfully widened and reinforced, offering motorists a safer, more reliable route.

The rebuild was led by Uni-span and Joburg Scaffolding, using advanced systems including Quick Stage, UNI-MF and Youngman Beams. Custom brackets were secured to the original piers, supporting trusses and Uni-Max Beams that formed the expanded bridge deck.
