Rhinos Gear Up for Action-Packed Rugby Weekend

Setaria – The Northam Platinum Rhinos Rugby Club had a powerhouse weekend on the field, racking up two dominant wins in the Northern Region League and gearing up for an exciting semifinal this Friday.

The Waterberg League fixture originally scheduled for Friday evening, 18 July 2025, was cancelled after the Warmbad team withdrew from the competition — automatically awarding points to the Rhinos, explained assistant coach Flip de Kock. But Saturday, 19 July, was far from quiet. The Rhinos’ second and third teams took on the University of Limpopo — and absolutely dominated. The third team delivered a 76–0 blowout, while the second team followed with an 87–12 victory.

Now, all eyes are on Bosveld Park, where the Rhinos’ first team will clash with Nylstroom in the Waterberg League semifinal on Friday, 25 July at 20:00.

The following day, Saturday, 26 July, the club heads to Polokwane for a full-force faceoff — first, second, and third teams will battle it out against the Northerns Rugby Club in the Northern Region League.
