LIFE PRISON SENTENCE FOR RAPIST

Lephalale – A life sentence given to rapist Jan Hermanus Didericks, aged 43, in Lephalale on 5 April has been applauded by police. The sentencing of Didericks is considered as one of the heaviest sentences issued in the Lephalale area for rape. 

He regularly visited his victim’s parents and was a friend of the family. According to a police statement, on 15 July 2016, the accused again visited the home of the victim who was under the age of 15 years, at the time, and took her to his place in Lephalale, where he raped her.

The provincial commissioner lieutenant general Nneke Ledwaba welcomed the long jail term given to Didericks. He also commended the Lephalale family violence, child protection and sexual offences (FCS) unit on their sterling work.
