Flames in Acasia Street

Thabazimbi – A fire that broke out on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, behind Sasol in Acasia Street left a local lapa in ashes and nearby properties in danger. Thanks to swift teamwork and brave community spirit, greater tragedy was averted.

Emergency teams rushed to the scene, including Thaba Fire and Rescue, WildMed Emergency Services, and the Waterberg District Fire team. Community members also pitched in, with one resident dousing flames in the spruit and preventing a grass-roof home from catching alight. Local VF Plus representative, Frik Erasmus, was also on the scene assisting with the response.

Angelique Loots, one of the directors of Thaba Fire and Rescue, said: “Every fire is a reminder of how quickly things can turn devastating. What matters most is how people come together. The support from WildMed, Waterberg District’s Fire team, and community members shows the true meaning of standing strong in the face of danger.”
