Thaba Fire and Rescue Trains for the Fight
Kwaggasvlakte – Thaba Fire and Rescue (TFR) continues to strengthen its readiness for the fire season. From 26–28 September 2025, seven members of TFR, along with five additional participants, completed a Basic Wildlands Firefighting Course hosted at Kwaggasvlakte.
The training was presented by Stephen Devine of Firescape, equipping participants with crucial skills to safely and effectively combat veldfires. All attendees successfully completed the course and are now eagerly awaiting their certificates.
“Wildfires are unpredictable and dangerous. By investing in continuous training, we ensure our team is prepared to protect both people and the environment. I’m proud of our members’ commitment and dedication,” said Pierre Loots, director of Thaba Fire and Rescue.
This initiative underscores TFR’s commitment not only to safety but also to ongoing professional development, ensuring they are always ready to respond when the community needs them most.
