VOICES OF FAITH
Kopano Ya Rona Gospel Choir uplifts youth through song
Phadi Village, Ramokokastad – A new wave of faith and music has risen! The Kopano Ya Rona Gospel Choir (KYRGC), founded in October 2024, is already inspiring hope, purpose, and unity among local youth. Comprising 15 passionate members aged 18 to 35, the choir isn’t just about music — it’s a mission. “We want to teach youth to obey God, take them off the streets, and protect them from drugs and alcohol,” explains director Paul Makgamathe.
Open to both male and female members, the choir welcomes anyone with a love for gospel music and a desire to serve. Practices take place from Mondays to Thursdays at Phadi Village, and members also travel from nearby communities such as Kraalhoek and Thabazimbi to be part of the movement.
To join, new members pay a once-off R100 joining fee, with additional costs only when the choir travels. Kopano Ya Rona sings exclusively gospel music — a powerful blend of harmony and devotion. “With God, everything is possible!” Makgamathe added proudly, emphasising the choir’s motto.
For more information or to join the choir, contact Paul Makgamathe on 071 669 8091 or WhatsApp 072 074 8935.
