Die verskil tussen ‘n kar en ‘n motor is maar die bestuurder. Corona word bestuur deur ‘n donkiekar bestuurder wat nie bewus is van moderne tegnologie nie. Byvoorbeeld... Die besending van die teenmiddel, wat net 22% effektief is, het wel in Suid-Afrika aangeland. Dít teen hoë kostes met die donkiekar bestuurders wat dit op die lughawe loop inwag het.

Thabazimbi – Kameeldoring Oasis’s swimming and water slide facilities are ideal for spoiling your kids while taking a break from the summer heat.   Established in April 2019 by Ben and Abigail Muller, this fun-filled centre briefly stopped operating due to the COVID-19 national lockdown. But their doors opened again on 14 February!

Thabazimbi – The Chinese community celebrated the beginning of a new year on Friday, 12 February. During this time, windows are opened to allow good luck to come inside and lanterns are lit to reflect new hopes and aspirations for the new year. The new year is symbolised by the ox which characterises hard work, positivity, and honesty. Platinum Bushvelder would like to wish our Chinese readers a very happy and bountiful new year.

POLICE TAKE OUR MEDICINE [Letter to the editor]

Dwaalboom – Police officers from Dwaalboom and Mahwelereng accompanied by military police and soldiers searched each person they came across in our community. They also searched houses in Dwaalboom and the Baipei settlement. Any marijuana plants that were found in private yards were removed without asking the owner’s permission. I planted marijuana, not for scientific reasons, but for traditional medicinal use. To come onto a person’s private property and remove their plants without any discussion, is disrespectful and a human right’s abuse. I also question why a Quantum bus marked Mahwelereng Police would travel more than 300km for such an operation in our area, Dwaalboom? Even soldiers, what do they want in our area as Dwaalboom is a peaceful “bosveld” where we don’t experience major crimes? Should the soldiers not be protecting the national borders? Even cell phone theft does not occur here. We don’t even have nyaupe addicts. Matlapeng

Northam – The main four-way stop in Northam is a nightmare every morning and afternoon. Road rage is the order of the day – and just about nobody follows the right-of-way rule. I also haven’t seen any traffic officials recently…? Surely this situation is their responsibility to manage. I think they only come out when an accident is reported. This 4-way stop is dangerous on so many levels. Many parents who have to drop off their kids at Viva Garage to catch the school bus, fear for their children’s safety. STOP ILLEGAL DUMPING! [Letter to the editor]

Thabazimbi – Thabazimbi is a beautiful town in the heart of the bushveld, with alluring scenic landscapes and breath-taking views. Unfortunately, our town also has a big eye sore, trash being dumped illegally, blemishing our town like you will not believe. One of the biggest problem areas being Extension 18, which has become a dumping area for several residents and businesses in Thabazimbi. Luckily, there is ‘n silver lining around this dark and unpleasant cloud of trash; our community has joined hands in an endeavour to clean Extension 18 and making a big effort to stop the illegal dumping in this area.

Die Franse Hane is sommer vroeg in die seisoen stert in die lug en kan pronk met die goeie oorwinning oor Italië. Die Hane gaan gewis hierdie seisoen die ander nasies harde bene laat kou. Hulle volgende wedstryd is teen Ierland op Sondag 14 Februarie om 17:00. Italië gaan teen Engeland Saterdag om 16:15 uitdraf.
