Thabazimbi – We celebrate Women’s month in August to honour the impact amazing women make in lives our lives. Platinum Bushvelder took to the streets to find out why our readers think women should be celebrated.

Doctor at Dr Kock & Partners in Northam, Mart-Marié Marais said: “Women must empower themselves in this difficult economic and political environment.

We should respect and admire others not for their status or riches but for their wisdom and character.

Always remember that you can overcome challenges! Prioritise what is important in your life, set goals for yourself. Appreciate the small things in life and all your blessings from God. Try not to criticise but be true to yourself. Always behave with love towards one another and Pray always.”

“You must create your own space where you can grow to make a difference, not only in business but also in the lives of everyone you interact with.

Women should not be stepped on but must be able to rise above any situation. It a privilege to be an empowered female.” said manager of Obaro Northam Adri Serfontein.

Safety health and environment (SHE) administrator at Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine, Precious Chabane works a full-time job, she is a leader in her church, a member of the school’s governing body and a mother of three small children. How does she manage all this?

“As I wake up, I pray and ask God for strength and wisdom. Without wisdom and strength from God, I will not be able to accomplish everything going on in my life and in my career.

With God’s grace you can make a difference! Start  to appreciate what God gave you,” Precious said.

August is not an ordinary month, it is a celebration for all South African women, a reminder that women can stand up for themselves and have a role to play in this country!
