Murderous robbers kill three people

Thabazimbi – “Three people died and nine more were seriously injured on the evening of Saturday 12 October when China Liquor Tavern, a local tavern, was robbed at gunpoint,” said police spokesperson Titus Khumalo. 

According to reports, four gunmen entered and ordered the staff to lie on the ground. They assaulted the owner and shot him in the right arm. 

The bullet went through his arm and ribs. When the attackers attempted to flee, they were met by tavern patrons and a gun-battle ensued. One person was declared dead on scene and two passed away in hospital.

Nine others are still in hospital for injuries they sustained during the shooting. “Most of the people were shot at the gate and outside on the street. More than 30 cartridges were collected at the scene of the crime,” Titus said. The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Thabazimbi Police station commander lieutenant colonel Philemon Bodibe condemned the acts of robbery and appealed to the justice department to deal with this case mercilessly.
