Accident claims life of 14-year old

Thabazimbi – The Thabazimbi community is in mourning after a vehicle accident claimed the life of a beloved Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer (HFM) learner and left four others with numerous injuries.

The accident occurred during the morning of Wednesday 5 February when two vehicles collided head-on along the Thabazimbi Marakele road.

The 14-year old Ivon Keyser sadly passed away at the scene of the accident. Ivon’s mother Etrisia Keyser and sister, Petra Keyser, a Grade 12 learner at HFM, was seriously injured and had to be airlifted to hospital. 

Another passenger in the Keyser’s vehicle was transported to Regorogile Hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle, HFM administrative assistant Juanita Fouché, also sustained various injuries. 

According to Thabazimbi Crisis Control’s Henk Havenga, Fouché is in a stable condition.
HFM sent a special message to everyone affected and social media was flooded with condolences from the community.

According to Thabazimbi Police captain Abel Thapela, the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The memorial service for Ivon will be held at the Hervormde Kerk Thabazimbi on 15 February at 11:00.
