Family attacked on farm

Mokopane – The police in Tinmyne outside Mokopane have launched a massive manhunt for the suspects involved in a farm attack on Sunday 24 May.

According to police spokesperson brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, a 49-year old farmer was preparing to feed livestock on his farm when nine suspects approached him. They tied him up and threw him into his vehicle, a Toyota Hilux.

The suspects drove the vehicle to the victim’s house. They tied up both his 40-year old wife and 12-year old daughter and ransacked the house. The suspects forced the victims to divulge the security codes and proceeded to unlock their safe.

They stole cash, cellphones, a tablet, two pistols, three rifles and jewellery worth about R500,000 and

fled the scene with the victim’s vehicle. The vehicle was later found abandoned in the bushes next to the Sepharane village. Police also recovered a firearm at the scene.
Investigations continue.
